Americans: A Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition
Explore the complex and often overlooked role of Native Americans in American culture through Americans, a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.
Featuring images and objects from popular culture, sports, advertising and history, the exhibition examines how American Indians have remained both highly visible and largely absent from many narratives of American life. Visitors will take a closer look at familiar stories and events, including Thanksgiving, Pocahontas, the Trail of Tears and the Battle of Little Bighorn, while considering how Native peoples have shaped American history, culture and identity.
Americans is on view at USC Lancaster’s Native American Studies Center from August 22 through October 3. Admission is free.
