Jun 9, 2026
Visit Website

June 28, 1776 will forever be Carolina Day in South Carolina, but why is that? Why do South Carolinians celebrate a day during the American Revolution that no other state focuses on? National Park Volunteer for Fort Moultrie, Norm Rickeman wants all to know about the miraculous victory that occurred against the mighty British Navy and a small incomplete Patriot fort made up of sand and Palmetto logs. With little in way of supplies and no real back up, Colonel William Moultrie defended Charleston Harbor against a British invasion; that had the British succeeded, would have led to a very different outcome in our American Revolution. Join us with your lunch and dive into the remarkable history that is the Battle of Sullivan’s Island.

Copies of Mr. Rickeman’s book will be on sale during the event.

(You bring your lunch and  we will provide the learning opportunity!)
