Natural beauty, birds and wildlife abound on the park’s 361-acre Lake Juniper. Join us for a quiet trip to the head waters accompanied by a park ranger. Paddle, relax and enjoy the scenery. Departure is before sunset so you can watch the sun go down, and then we paddle back by moonlight! Some paddling experience is required. Register by 2 days before the program. Open to participants 14 years old and older. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Bring a headlamp or hands-free light, water, insect repellent, and appropriate clothing for the weather. As South Carolina’s first state park, this facility takes traditional recreational park activities to a new level of fun.The 18-hole, championship golf course winds its way through piney woodlands while maintaining and protecting the surrounding natural habitat of the park. Cypress wetlands line the 360-acre Lake Juniper and can be explored by kayaks and canoes or via a boardwalk that runs along the lake. Fish from the boardwalk or by boat, or take time to explore other areas of Cheraw on the park’s extensive biking, hiking and equestrian trail system. Cabins and campsites are available for overnight accommodations.
