This annual event highlights the age-old tradition of butchering and preserving pork for survival. Costumed interpreters will butcher hogs and preserve the meat using 19th century techniques. See salt preservation of meat, food preservation using hog bladders, historic cooking with pork, sausage making, soap making and rendering fat into lard. Local BBQ and pork skins for sale. Regular admission: Adults $8/Seniors $7/Youth 4-17 $5/3 and under and CHM members free.(803) 684-2327.

This site features over thirty colonial and antebellum structures, including two house museums. The plantation spreads over 800-acres and includes farmed land with heritage breed animals, a Revolutionary War battlefield site with interpretive trail, and a nature preserve with miles of walking trails. Seasonal events, reenactments, and living history programs interpret life in the Carolina Backcountry from the 1750s to the 1850s. Award-winning African American programs are an essential part of telling the story of the Carolina Piedmont. Also a site on the SC Ag + Art Tour. Open Tues–Sat: 10 am–5 pm and Sun: 1–5 pm, except New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Admission is charged. Limited handicap accessibility. I-77, exit 82-B.
