Gems, Minerals and Fossils Show & Tell

Dig into the fascinating hobby of collecting gems, minerals, and fossils. Whether you simply enjoy the beauty of gems, minerals, and the rarity of fossils, or you play Minecraft™, join us for an amazing show and tell. This is an educational show, not a sale. Meet members of the Charlotte Gem and Mineral Club and view some lifelong collections. Investigate Ice Age fossils with Dr. Steve Fields, Museum of York County's Curator of Natural History.  Participate in Museum Volunteer Terri Harper's hands-on mineral and fossil activities. (Ticketed, first come, first served at 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.)

Recommended for 7 yrs and older. - Ongoing Museum collections of ores, minerals, and rocks in the Naturalist Center. Private collectors will showcase their unique gems and minerals. Meteorites can be viewed in the Settlemyre Planetarium between 1 - 2 p.m.  Geologist and Museum Volunteer Dr. Brian Andersen will share from his own incredible collection. Dirt Dauber Deb is back with her Gem Mining sluice for an additional $5 fee, children 5 years old and up can participate in panning for minerals and gems. (Weather permitting, dry sand panning if too cold to pump water.)

Regular Admission: $8 Adults | $7 Seniors (over 60) | $5 Youth (4-17) CHM members and 3 years and younger are free.
