Fitness Hike at the Greenway

Tuesday, August 13, 2019 - 6:30pm until 7:30pm
Also happening on: September 10th, October 8th

Come enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful Greenway property while getting your heart rate up! Moderate hike will include some inclines as we explore the Greenway trails. The pace will be determined by the attendees of the hike and will be certain to allow everyone to keep up with the group, though we will strive to keep a brisk pace to cover approximately 3 miles in about an hour. Dogs on a leash are welcome if they are well-behaved and can keep up with a brisk pace (unfortunately this means very few sniff breaks!). Children who can keep up with the pace are also welcome. All you need is comfortable shoes and water. Hikers will meet at a different location each time: July 9 - Adventure Road Parking Lot; August 13 - Adventure Road Parking Lot; September 10 - Dairy Barn Parking Lot; October 8 - Recreation Complex Trailhead. Hike is free to members, $5 entry fee to non-members. For more details about this event, please visit the website here.

In 1995, this 2,100 acre nature preserve was dedicated to the public to serve as a natural buffer from urban development and a place for countless activities – from hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, to picnics, kayaking and more. The Greenway holds a wealth of cultural resources, including the historic Nation Ford Road, which was part of the Great Philadelphia Wagon Road, a pathway that was used by Native Americans, European settlers, Revolutionary and Civil War soldiers, traders and trappers for hundreds of years. In addition, the Greenway contains two circa-1800 log cabins, a dairy barn built in 1946 and the site of the Garrison-Webb gristmill for which Fort Mill is named. A part of Leroy Springs & Company,  Inc. and a site on the SC Ag + Art Tour
