Della Mae returns for an encore performance. The all-female string band features some of the finest players of bluegrass. In 2014, Della Mae’s debut album received a Grammy nomination and they were named International Bluegrass Music Association’s Emerging Artists of the Year. “The Butcher Shoppe EP,” recorded at the historic Butcher Shoppe studio in Nashville and released in March 2019, debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Bluegrass chart. The McCelvey Center's 2020 Sound Series is reserved seating only. Get tickets online here. Vittles & Fiddles, a pre-show affair, returns for the 2020 Southern Sound Series beginning two hours prior to the main concert. This original site of the Yorkville Female Academy (founded in 1852) includes the 500-seat Lowry Family Theater. Noted for its remarkable acoustics, the historic theater has a lovely 1920s ambiance and hosts Culture and Heritage Museums’ annual Southern Sound Series and the Grand Ole McCelvey summer concert series.
