HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND: A Splash, A Song and A Salute for Memorial Day Weekend at Carowinds

Carowinds opens its gates with a splash, a song and a salute for the Memorial Day Weekend.

Carowinds’ all-inclusive water park, Boomerang Bay, opens Saturday, May 23 at 11 a.m. Boomerang Bay features different attractions for the entire family to enjoy. From Awesome Aussie Twisters, a black hole experience that plunges riders into total darkness, to Crocodile Run, a 1,000-foot long river that takes guests leisurely through North Carolina and South Carolina, Boomerang Bay contains attractions for both the thrill seeker and thrill seekers in training.

JoyFest, one of the country’s largest gospel music festivals, is also being held on Saturday at 4 p.m.  The songful celebration returns to Carowinds with award-winning gospel artists Fred Hammond and Tye Tribbett. Tickets are still available at ticketmaster.com.

And the park pays tribute to our brave service men and women during Military Days on Sunday, May 24 and Monday, May 25.  Any active, inactive or retired United States Service personnel with a valid military I.D. can enjoy FREE admission to the park, along with military discounts at various retail locations.

Visit www.carowinds.com to view hours of operation and a full list of events happening this season, or to purchase a season pass.
