Made up of seven counties in the north central area of the state, the district received its name because of the region’s early settlement by the English in the mid 1770s. There were a number of Revolutionary War battles fought in the area as well, and historical markers, parks and buildings offer hundreds of ways to enjoy a piece of living history. {continue reading}
